Equine Photo Tour - Tuscany, Maremma and Latio / Italy - April 2024

You love travelling, horses and photography at unique locations? Then you might be the right person for this horse photography tour, which takes you through Tuscany, Maremma and Latio one of the most beautiful regions of Europe. A wonderful culture, enchanted small towns and villages and, for me personally, the best food in the world await you.
Many years ago I fell in love with this country, the friendly people and the
mediterran clima. So it happened that since then i enjoy travelling to Tuscany several times a year.
Since I started as a horse photographer, I try to photograph some of them every time I go to Italy, and over the years I have found so many contacts and insane places that I would like to share them with you.
Philosophy and Program
This tour is filled with photosessions of many different horsebreeds, locations and light situations.
The landcape and architecture of Tuscany, Maremma and Latio is perfect for creating unique pictures and may let your photography skills grow . Our Models during the tour are the rare breeds marremmano and tolfetano horses and other horsebreeds like haflinger, cruzado and lusitano. We will also spend a day at the wild horses at the Tolfa region.
We will photograph horses in motion, in portraits, with people, ridden and in combination with architecture or forests/landscapes.
There will usually be two shootings a day. To capture the best light, the shootings will take place early in the mornings and in the evenings. The locations and horses are spread all over Tuscany, so we will often travel by car.
To make sure that all participants can relax in between, the program is designed with breaks or the opportunity to explore the surrounded area/city.
The most important thing for me is to give the horses the opportunity to be photographed in a relaxed environment in which they feel good and not stressed. For me, this is the key to show them as beautiful as they really are. Horses know very well when they are the centre of attention and the most of them love to present themselves, especially when they are given a stage for their own ideas. During this Tour we will work with the horses in this way.
In order to give you a bit of input, I will explain to you during the shootings how I compose the horse into the structures around in my pictures and how I work with the horse. In addition, I am always at your disposal for questions or problems.
As the group share a common passion in horse photography, there will be many inspiring conversations and a lot of fun.
DETAILS AND PRICES
• INCLUDED
- All transportation during the tour, including pick up from/to Pisa Airport
- 7 nights accomodation.
- Costs for the models/horseowners and access to the areas where the
horses live.
- If desired, a conversation/lesson with all participants, with a freely chosen topic in photography.

• USE OF PHOTOS
-All photos taken during the tour can be used in your portfolio, on your website, in social media and also for commercial purposes. It is not permitted to use them in contests or to promote photo tours or workshops.
-Each participant must send the photos, which he uses in any way, to the horse owners at the latest 1 week after their presentation/publication in social media, website or other internet presentations.
-Send photos to the horse owners: after the tour, each participant will become a link to Picdrop folders in which the published pictures must be uploaded.
• GEAR
-A DSLR or Mirrorless camera of any brand which you can operate manually.
-Lenses: a telephoto zoom 70-200mm.
For capturing the wild horses I recommend a focal length of more than 200 mm. A 150-600mm would be perfect, but it's not necessary.
-A Laptop is highly recommended.
-Batteries, chargers and additional memory cards, socket adapter.
• CLOTHING
-The weather in April can be very changing. One day it may have 30 degrees and at the next Day 15 degrees with continuous rain. But the most time we will have good weather around 20-25 degrees.
Be sure to bring footwear with you who allows you to walk throug rough fields.
• DISCLAMER
-For damage to property and/or personal injury during the phototour, we do not take legal responsibility.
-We can't be responsible for the weather and our main responsibility is your safety. If the conditions for shooting outside are not appropriate, we will use that time productively with editing and feedback sessions. The timetable retains a degree of flexibility that allows us to avoid possible storms.
-If there are not enough participants, the tour will be canceled.
• FITNESS LEVEL
-You should have a good basic condition and be sure-footed, as we will be moving a lot on unpaved roads.
